Tip #1: Empty it All Out

After investing in closet shelves, AKA closet organizers, many people make the mistake of simply shifting clothes, accessories and shoes around to accommodate them. The ideal way to set up shelves that are truly organized is by removing every last item from your closet. As overwhelming and unpleasant as the task may sound, it’s the only way to start with a slate that’s genuinely clean. Once everything’s out, you can sort it all out into manageable piles. Make one pile for donating, one to keep and one to pack away elsewhere.

Tip #2: Label, Label, Label

Your closet shelving system isn’t going to do you a whole lot of good if everything’s crammed into it in a haphazard way. Efficient, organized people are well-versed in the art of labeling – and you should be, too. All of the bins and cartons that you use to store your clothes will be a jumble of confusion, unless you can tell what is in them at a glance. After all, all of your careful organization will fly right out the window if you have to dig frantically through several bins in order to find that elusive sweater.

Tip #3: Color Coordination is Your Friend

If you think that sorting your clothes by color is wishy-washy and extravagant, think again. Even if you’re not the most fashion-conscious person in the world, you undoubtedly consider the color of your clothing when getting dressed for the day. By sorting everything by color, you can track down what you need in the blink of an eye. Ideally, everything should have its rightful place within your closet organization system. With a color-based sorting scheme, getting there will be a whole lot easier.

Tip #4: Don’t Get Sabotaged by Shoes!

Many times, the upper portions of a person’s closet system are neatly organized; down below, however, is a whole other matter. All too often, piles of shoes are splayed across the floor of a closet. No matter how neat and tidy your closet shelves are, a disheveled floor will ruin the entire effect. There are many great options for organizing your shoes within a closet shelving system. Explore your options, choose a system that will work for you – then use it! You’ll be amazed at what a difference shoe organization can make when it comes to keeping the closet orderly.

Tip #5: Make “One In, One Out” Your Mantra

Shopping trips are the mortal enemies of closet organization. Right after organizing and sorting a closet, you’re bound to be pleased by how roomy and clean it looks. A few trips to the mall later – or a couple of visits by the UPS truck – can turn that organization on its head. Efficient organizers generally follow the “one in, one out” rule: For every new item that you introduce to your closet, another must be removed. After a while, the rule will become like second nature to you – and your closet shelving will stay in tiptop condition!

Tip #6: Maintain an Efficient Post-Washing Regimen

After completing a few loads of laundry, it’s often tempting to simply toss the clothes into baskets and forget about them for a while. By the time you absolutely have to fold them up and put them away, you’re a lot less likely to be neat about it. Get into the habit of immediately folding and putting away your clothes after you wash them. By taking care of business right away, you’ll be able to keep your closet organization scheme intact a lot more easily.

Tip #7: Straighten and Refold as Needed

There’s no rule that says that you should only straighten up a closet once in a blue moon. Whenever you see an errant item of clothing slipping off of a shelf, put it back into place. If your shoes are starting to take over the floor, get them out and get them organized. Perform regular damage control so that the once- or twice-per-year cleanings that you perform aren’t nearly as anxiety-inducing.

Now that you’ve read through the preceding tips, you should be able to see that closet organization really can be a breeze. The difference between a sloppy, untidy closet – and one that’s perennially clean and organized – lies in the habits of its owner. Closet shelves will also go a long way towards keeping everything spic and span.

Cube shelves offer a unique way to create storage space in your home, place of work or school. Most of these shelves available in the market can either be purchased in sets or in terms of quantity. This allows you to buy as many as you need and then you can use them in the way that suits you best.

There are many different types of cube shelves available in the market. You can go for the shelf that suits you best in view of your requirements and the size of area you have available. Some of these include boxes that are usually available in black or white, but can be tinted to the color of your choice. These are the most common type of cube shelving used given the fact that they are multipurpose and easy to use.

Wired cube shelves are also available in the market that give the impression of small cages and can be put together to form a nice storage system. Many people use them in homes for storing cloths, souvenirs, food items and so on. One of the best features of wire shelving cubes is that you can always change the way they are connected so you are never stuck with one arrangement. They are very simple to put together and modify and can be fitted to anyplace you want

Wall shelves are another type of cube shelving. These are smaller shelves that you can put on your walls. These shelves are ideal for keeping pictures and other home décor items and can help you to make your house more stylish.

Even though cube-based shelves are not a substitute for regular shelves, they are an excellent option if you want something handy and pleasant looking to store your files and other similar items. The additional divisions that they come with make organization easy for users.

To sum up, cube shelving is a convenient way to create extra storage anywhere in our house. This shelving is not fitted or permanent which makes it very easy to move or change its location whenever you want. This added flexibility is one of the biggest reasons why cube shelving is becoming increasingly popular. A cube storage system can be used in a variety of ways from a small desk storage to a larger display cabinet. Given their versatility and functionality, cube-based shelves are an ideal accessory for your home.

Visit cube wall shelves or kids dresser knobs for more information.

Choosing the right kitchen cabinets can be difficult. The kitchen tends to be a place where families spend a lot of time, so we want it to look nice. However, it also needs to be functional since the cooking is done there and we need places to store all of the dishes and kitchen utensils and equipment. There are a lot of different things that need to be considered since this can be a time consuming and expensive project, and you want to get it right the first time.

When choosing the right cabinets for you, you first need to determine whether you want to purchase stock, semi custom, or custom cabinets. In part this might depend on the design of your kitchen, since stock cabinets only come in certain configurations and sizes. It also might depend on your budget, since custom options can be very expensive. Those who are handy might be able to solve this problem by looking into how to build it themselves, or by purchasing unfinished kitchen cabinets that they can finish themselves.

Once you have determined whether stock or custom cabinets are in your future, you will need to figure out what type of material you would like to have your cabinets made out of. You can get hickory kitchen cabinets, or those made out of other types of wood, or you can get metal kitchen cabinets such as stainless steel. You can also get those made out of composites or other materials. It is also important to determine which sort of finish you would like on your cabinets. You can get painted kitchen cabinets for something a little different, or you can get wood cabinets that are stained in various colors.

There are two main types of designs to choose from as well. These are face-framed cabinets, which are most common in the U.S., or faceless cabinets like those commonly found in Europe. Besides the outside design, in order to make sure you are choosing the right cabinets you want to make sure that you have the right designs inside so that your belongings will fit, or else you will want to look for kitchen cabinet organizers to make them more efficient for storage. Kitchen storage cabinets typically have one shelf for lower cabinets and two for upper cabinets, but there are other options.

Last month I set out looking to build a storage shelf for my garage. The idea was to combine a tool storage cabinet with a multi-purpose shelf. Seeing that I have a 1-car garage, the shelf would be fixed to the ceiling.

Initially, the plan was to build the storage shelf/cabinet out of wood. I knew the measurements of my garage, and started out by sketching out some simple plans. Soon enough, however, I realized that a wooden shelf would not only be too heavy for the joining beams of the ceiling, it would also not be very sturdy. After doing more research, it turned out that wooden shelves have a tendency to warp over time under heavy loads, which can cause disastrous consequences. I could not trust a wooden shelf to hold 3 bicycles, some shovels and gardening equipment, plus all my car tools.

With wood out of the equation, I turned to metal. The only metal alloy that would be lightweight enough yet rigid and reliable enough to be used as a shelf rack is of course aluminum. After settling on aluminum as a solution to my cabinet and shelf, I set out to search for materials. After a trip to the local hardware store, I realized that cutting and bolting aluminum bars together would be difficult, as I also required bolts that would be able to withstand the weight of all that is stored within the rack. Furthermore, while it fit my requirements perfectly, aluminum was several times more expensive than wood, and each extra inch of aluminum that I’d buy meant that money was being wasted.

After searching online, I was able to find manufacturers of aluminum T-slotted profile framing systems. Aluminum profiles and framing systems are basically bars that are extruded in a special shape as to easily come together. Think of it as a large size version of LEGO. Furthermore, almost all T-slotted aluminum profile manufacturers are able to ship the profiles in exact measurements to the nearest inch.

If I was going to spend my time and money ordering aluminum profiles, the next step was to find a way to design the garage shelving properly. My drawing on a napkin was no longer cutting it and I decided to turn to digital technologies. Most of the manufacturers recommended that I use AutoCAD, which is a $4000 CAD program for design engineers and professionals. After downloading the trial version of AutoCAD and playing around with it for 2 hours, I couldn’t even draw a basic box from aluminum profiles.

I then found a free program called Frame Designer, which was pretty much like MS Paint for aluminum profiles. While it didn’t have any of the advanced features advertised in AutoCAD, it was 100% free and extremely easy to use, not to mention the fact that Frame Designer came packed with its’ own extensive catalog of aluminum profiles. Frame Designer even automatically calculates where to place joints and connections depending on what you draw. Finally, I was able to come up with a digital version of my garage cabinet/shelf in under an hour.

Overall, I would definitely recommend using aluminum frames or profiles over any other material for such projects. Not only are aluminum profiles lightweight and virtually indestructible, working with them was incredibly easy and assembly was painless, requiring only a Philips screwdriver. Of course, if you’re going to go as far as using aluminum profiles for your garage shelving project, I would highly recommend that you use one of the modern computer-based design programs that I described earlier. Not only does using a computer save you time, it also saves you a lot of pains in calculating and figuring out what bolts, nuts, screws, and fixtures you really need.
